The first Methlick Cycle Challenge took place on 19th July 2015 and was a great success. As this was our first challenge we learnt a lot about how we can improve for 2016.
We had a few cyclists missing some directions and getting lost- including myself. But some of this was down to the mysterious removal of some direction arrows and the yellow painted arrows on the ground getting washed away.
Overall it was very successful and most of our riders made it back safely. The route was a good mix of easy carraigeway, challenging offroad, short road sections and the odd hill.
The feedback we received from the cyclists was positive, with way marking being the common comment. But after speaking with many riders a week after the challenge most want to sign up for the next one in 2016.
Thanks to Jay at the Ythanview Hotel for the after challenge BBQ, and thanks to all the helpers, marshalls and organisers who made it all possible.
