2016 Methlick Cycle Challenge Is Going To Be Awesome!

The Methlick Cycle Challenge team have started the planning meetings for the 2016 challenge and it is shaping up to be an awesome event!

Bike transport is available from Methlick to Ballater, but you can arrange your own if you prefer. Bikes being transported must be at the Ythanview Hotel in Methlick by 5.30pm on Saturday 16th July 2016.

For the 73 mile challenge we have arranged registration/sign on to take place inside the Deeside Inn where there will be free bacon rolls, tea/coffee and toilet facilities. We will then start the challenge from the grounds of Cycle Highlands who will be open on the day should you need any last minute items.

Throughout the route we will have feeding/water stations manned by our volunteer marshals who will have contact with the organisers should it be required for mechanical breakdowns or medical assistance (or anyone giving up before the end).

The 20 mile challenge will leave from Dyce railway station where the rest of the long route participants will be passing through about the same time so you will have the pleasure of cycling along side the other cyclists who may be feeling the strain by then so should make for an interesting dash for the finish in Methlick.

The Ythanview Hotel in Methlick are supplying the free BBQ to all participants and volunteers across from the finish line, this is always a great place to hear all the stories which seem to be exagerated more and more as the pints flow. The burgers are always a winner and they have a good range of lagers, real ales and soft drinks.

There will be shower facilities available in Methlick FC's changing rooms next to the finish also a bike wash at the Ythanview Hotel.

We have our new website and facebook page this year which is creating a lot of interest in the cycle challenge, if you have not already done so go onto our facebook page and 'like' it so you will get any updates or news as it happens.

Let your friends know about the challenge, even create your own small group to cycle together, it's a great day out for all levels of cyclist but especially pleasing to see new cyclists entering their first long cycle challenge. Last year we had many 'first timers' who have continued cycling since and are really up for the next one in July.

It's going to be Awesome- get entered!
