2017 Methlick Cycle Challenge

Organising for our 2017 cycle challenge is well under way.

We have added a 3rd route of 40 miles which starts in Crathes for those who think the 70 mile Ballater route is too much and find the 20 mile Dyce route not far enough. The Crathes & Dyce start points are on the Ballater route so you could do a shorter distance but meet up with your friends or partner and cycle together to Methlick.

Our route is mostly unchanged for this year apart from any small detours when approaching AWPR work sites, but these will be sign posted.

We are changing our finish area this year, we usually finish at the British Legion gardens in Methlick then head over to the Ythanview Hotel for the Free BBQ and a couple drinks, but this year due to an expected increase in riders we are creating a 'finish village' in the park next to the British Legion gardens. This will allow finishers to cycle into the finish area and be congratulated by fellow participants, friends & family. There will be a Free BBQ for cyclists & marshals in the event finish area and a BBQ stall & beer tent available to all, but the Ythanview Hotel will still be available for food & drinks to all participants and supporters for a larger range of beers, real ales and drinks.

We have had quite a few entries already, mostly from cyclists who have done our event before which is great. Some are taking their friends, family & work colleagues which is a great idea to ride as a pack and have a great day out on their bikes, the route passes through some fantastic scenery which is only accessible by bike or foot.

Spread the word and let's get those with a bike in the corner of the shed to get the cobwebs off it, get the tyres pumped up and join us for a brilliant day out!
